Very good article, thanks for posting it. I especially liked how they stated:
When safer and better food, water, air and work led to longer and healthier lives for the entire population, the old-time (in the industrialized world) infectious and contagious diseases were largely marginalized. The new source of threats came from chronic diseases, such as heart disease and cancer.

That's a good argument for people who play up our great health in America and think that we're only seeing heart disease and cancer because we're living longer (which we are, but we're still something like 43rd on the list of countries in terms of lifespan). Anyway, I just like that paragraph.

Cheers,
-Scott

Ann -- Thanks for this entry - I'll pass it on to ~400 on-line contacts - all of them are nutrition/health savvy.
My website has the healthy lifestyle material that I have gathered over the past 6+ years, after becoming a Vegan family of four via the Dr. McDougall Total Health Solution 10-day on-site program.
